This unique urban community of 27 dwellings includes apartments, standalone strawbale houses, and townhouses.
Sustainable design features include:
- passive solar design
- photovoltaic cells with battery storage
- solar hot water – flat plate and evacuated tubes
- composting
- underground stormwater storage
- community spaces – meeting room, laundry, bike shelter, produce garden, roof garden

Christie Walk was purpose-built to showcase how biodiversity, low emissions and community-living can be fashioned into a vibrant and verdant inner-city development.

In 2021 Urban Ecology Australia won the Carbon Neutral Adelaide award for Community Leadership, in recognition of three decades of campaigning, researching and educating on the transformation of conventional cities into Ecological Cities.
