Water for Cities

Discussion

Stormwater run-off from roofs and paved surfaces in urban areas as well as water output from wastewater treatment plants should be used to supplement water supplies from rivers and reservoirs and to replenish underground aquifers.

More rainwater tanks in urban areas could collect rainwater from roofs to supply water to households and businesses.

More stormwater, running down urban drains, could be used to supply water to nearby parks and gardens, and to recharge underground aquifers, to be tapped later when above-ground reservoirs run low.
