New bicycle rental scheme introduced in Paris. Bicycles can be picked up and dropped off at various self-serve docking stations using a pre-paid access card.
Today saw the introduction of a new bicycle rental scheme in Paris, called Velib' (short for velo-liberte), where bicycles can be picked up and dropped off at a number of self-serve docking stations around the city using a pre-paid access card.
Currently 750 locations and 10,648 bicycles, the system will expand to 1,451 locations (a station every 300 metres or so) and 20,600 bikes.
