Urban Ecology News. 2006.10.30
Stern Report (UK) predicts global economic depression unless we act now to stop global warming.
The Stern Review Final Report, released today by the UK Treaury, recommends the World spend one percent of its GDP to stabilise atmopheric greenhouse gases below 550 ppm (CO2e), and so avoid higher economic costs later on, as well as environmental and social disruption.
Actions include:
- Decarbonise the power sector by 60-70%.
- End deforestation.
- Make deep cuts in transport emissions.
