Exhibits
Exhibits will be available in a mix of media presentations. A narrative theme, authored by Urban Ecology Australia, will unite the topics in an educational overview.
Topics to be covered include:
- Historical perspective of environmental ideas, products and materials
- Passive design (site choice, passive heating and cooling, insulation, glazing, thermal mass, shade)
- Water use (demand reduction, rainwater, wastewater re-use, stormwater, waterless toilets)
- Materials use (embodied energy, aerated concrete block, rammed earth, clay brick, timber)
- Energy use (white goods, solar hot water, heating and cooling, lighting, renewable energy, batteries and inverters)
- Site impacts (bio-diversity, sediment control, noise control, sustainable landscape)
- Other impacts (streets and communities, transport, health and safety, adaptable houses)
- Use of non toxic materials
- Living landscape (increase in biodiversity, use of indigenous and native plants, use of food plants)
The structure and presentation of these topics will be based on the technical manual published by the Australian Greenhouse Office for which Urban Ecology Australia is a community partner.
